Real green tourism: Hit the hay, hotels!

Your playground is your sleeping gound!
How much do you think it costs to join the tourism industry? It may be difficult and incredibly expensive to find the right spot to erect a luxury hotel that would definitely bring in big bucks. Or you can buy some hay and a few domestic animals from local farmers, rent a barn and you have yourself an attractive hay hotel. Tourists love to hit the hay, literally!
Hay hotels are big hits in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and they started to appear in various remote spots in Europe. For as low as 8 euros ($5) per night you can get your own comfortable hay bed in a barn along with up to 60 other people. If you didn’t bring your cold-proof sleeping bag along, you may rent one there. Showers are improvised behind a tree, but toilets are decent. A perfect example of green tourism! But there’s more.
